Artist's Description
We were invited to a beach house for the eve of the new year last year. We were arrived there in the late afternoon. We saw, at the balcony, this old man standing there and the boy shouting at the waves. It was very far away. But we took photos. The photo my husband took were much better than mine. So I used his photo as a reference to paint. I thought that the boy was making a early new year wish and hoped that those waves could understand him. So I tittled it as "A wish to the waves". There was no dog in the photo. I found one in my reference photos and put him there to make the painting more interesting.
About Ningning Li
I was born in Beijing, China. Now I am living in Lima, Peru. During the Chinese Cultural Revolution(which lasted from1966-1976), my family was separated and sent to the provinces. My eldest sister was sent to a remote countryside village. She took care of the farmers as a "barefoot doctor". I borrowed medical books and copied the texts and sketched those bones, tissues, muscles and organs and sent them to her pages by pages for her to study. That was my only drawing experience during those years. Art was hence more of a must under the circumstances but by no means a desire. I had my artistic awakening six years ago but it only lasted for one year. I was lured by the Marinera Norteņa, Peru's most famous folkdance, and became drunk for...

For your information, I dornated the original painting to a event,"Noche de Musica" , as a radom price for any lucky one whom bought the ticket to enjoy the music and support education of children in Peru. It really lured a lot people. They told me that they love it. I am very pround of what I did.
