I was in my car running. And they were also running and quickly passed us. There was only two seconds for me to catch up these people . I painted it by the reference of the photo but rearrenged their position. That old man at the right was not in the truck that day. I put him in to fill the space of the painting. It was an election day in Peru. As the public bus drivers had to vote, the transportation was very limited. People who had no private cars were looking for any means to go to vote. Those people in the painting might not even know each other. They just wanted to go to vote or go home. They were only united by the truck. That is it.
About Ningning Li
I was born in Beijing, China. Now I am living in Lima, Peru. During the Chinese Cultural Revolution(which lasted from1966-1976), my family was separated and sent to the provinces. My eldest sister was sent to a remote countryside village. She took care of the farmers as a "barefoot doctor". I borrowed medical books and copied the texts and sketched those bones, tissues, muscles and organs and sent them to her pages by pages for her to study. That was my only drawing experience during those years. Art was hence more of a must under the circumstances but by no means a desire. I had my artistic awakening six years ago but it only lasted for one year. I was lured by the Marinera Norteņa, Peru's most famous folkdance, and became drunk for...

It would be better if the two heads are completed. But as i was in my car running and they were also running and quickly passed by, there was only two secounds for me to catch up these people. It was very difficult to take a good picture in this manner. I painted it by the reference of the photo but rearrenged their positiones. That old man at the right was not in the truck that day.
